We've been busy

In order to actually tear down the house and garage and playhouse, they have to be empty. So that's what we've been up to pretty much every weekend for over a month — sorting, packing, moving.

We rented a 10x10 conditioned space unit where we'd had a storage unit previously (Meyer Park Storage on South Loop). It's 9 feet tall inside, so the trick is being able to figure out how to vertically store stuff. I think we've done all right on that front.
(We've moved a lot more stuff into storage since these pictures were taken our first weekend of moving.)
We have about 4 minivan loads of stuff to move yet, at least, but we consider that pretty good progress. We have yet to move the Italian tile (discontinued and purchased back in 2013) that we will use in one of the smaller bathrooms (in total, I think we're going to have 4.5 bathrooms, more on that later). The tile will get moved to the garage where we live currently, along with some stuff from the garage to-be-razed. The boxes are heavy and we are not enthused about moving them.

The tile needed space in our current garage, which meant that last weekend, on the glorious Sunday with a stiff north wind, we sorted through and cleaned out and organized the 5206 garage. Before pics:

Almost clean! pics

Then we moved the garden workbench back to 5206 and cleaned it up. We still have to move the gas grill, the leaf shredder, the compost tea bubbler and who remembers what else. But we can see light at the end of the moving process. (No, we still haven't moved a single box of bathroom tile.)

For those of you curious about my injured arm from the copper pipe incident, yes, I have a permanent scar where it hit me. It's pretty impressive really, how much force was apparently behind that cut pipe edge. I'm not pleased about it, as it serves as a constant reminder of my hard-headedness/impatience. (Yes, for those of you looking for a life lesson here, it ain't working for me.) It's a smooth half-pipe scar (I can see the complete circle in the right light), and I'm hoping it will fade with time. The novelty has worn off.
